Illinois Veteran R&B Crooner Frankie Beverly has been utilizing the smooth grooves of bassist and vocalist Larry Kimpel with his platinum selling group Maze featuring Frankie Beverly for years now. Larry’s playing as well as his passion for music has inspired a generation of young musicians across the country and around the world.
 
He has played on over 200 CD’s with major artists as diverse as: The Staple Singers, Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, Steve Perry, George Duke, Jonathan Butler, Oleta Adams, Al Jarreau, George Benson, Boney James, Alanis Morissette, Joe Cocker, Larry Carlton, Rachelle Ferrell, Ledisi, Michael Bolton, Paula Abdul, Yolanda Adams… and the list continues on.

Even though he’s been in the mainstream of Jazz, Pop and R&B music for over a decade, Larry’s blues sensibilities never left him and his desire to explore them once more was more of a divine calling than merely a whim. And speaking of his blues sensibilities, Larry just might have absorbed them as he attended the funeral service of Blues Legend “Howling Wolf” in Chicago.


“Howling Wolf’s” music took the blues to a new level in the hearts and minds of people all over the world and Larry plans to do the same with the music of his own Blues/Rock band “Outlaw X”. Larry lives in Southern California with his beautiful wife Kim their son Jordan and their two adorable dogs “Tak” and “Sonic”.
